If we allow gay marriage, then the surviving spouse can apply for social security survivor benefits. How is that not forcing me to support their relationship advice for women? Preferential tax treatment is another benefit of marriage. Again, I am being forced to support their relationship through my tax dollars. When my tax dollars go to support a relationship I deem sinful, I am being forced to support said relationship. That is why it is best that the government stay out of a religious practice altogether. That way the government is not being forced to make a decision between equality under the law and freedom of religion.
